Hi everyone,

My name is Sanya, and I’m a proud Jamaican living in Wisconsin. This past Tuesday, Hurricane Melissa tore through Jamaica, leaving behind unimaginable destruction. My family and loved ones back home are devastated, their homes damaged, their belongings washed away, and their sense of safety shaken.

The house I grew up in, the one filled with laughter, love, and Sunday dinners, is now unrecognizable. My family is safe, thank God, but they’ve lost nearly everything.

Being so far away during all of this has been heartbreaking. I’ve felt helpless watching the news, trying to reach loved ones, and seeing the place I call home suffer. But I know Jamaicans are strong. We rise, we rebuild, and we look out for each other.

I’ve started this GoFundMe to help rebuild my family’s home and support our community as we recover from Hurricane Melissa’s destruction. Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward repairs, clean-up supplies, food, and essential items for my family and neighbors.
