My brother is a loving father who has spent years fighting to stay in his daughters’ lives. For the past several years, he has been trapped in an exhausting custody battle with his ex-wife, who has taken him to court over 100 times. Nearly two and a half years ago, she cut off his contact with his daughters, and since then he has been fighting tirelessly to reunite with them.
Despite his love for his children and his efforts to comply with every legal requirement, he was recently taken to court again after accidentally “butt dialing” his daughter, which resulted in an unintentional violation of the order of protection. This incident has spiraled into yet another court case, preventing him from being able to find work or stabilize his life.
He is now homeless and struggling with overwhelming legal and court-related debt. Every day, he is trying his best to move forward, find employment, and regain stability—but continuous legal actions have left him without the resources to do so.
My brother is not a bad person. He’s not a criminal. He’s a father who made an accidental mistake and is trapped in a system that’s tearing him apart emotionally, financially, and mentally. He wants nothing more than to rebuild his life and be the stable, loving dad his daughters deserve.
He was a physical therapy assistant for years and lost his license due to all of the legal stuff going on with his ex wife.
I’m creating this GoFundMe to help him:
• Secure temporary housing
• Cover ongoing legal fees so he can continue to fight for his parental rights
• Get support toward finding employment and regaining stability
• Begin the process of putting his life back together
If you can donate, no matter the amount, you will be helping someone who just wants a fair chance to get back on his feet. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this so his story can reach others. He is currently in over $25,000 in debt but I’d like to help him get started. He is also in need of a new lawyer for his divorce case but he can’t afford it.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your support—whether through a donation, a share, or simply keeping him in your thoughts. Your kindness could be the turning point in helping him regain hope and rebuild his life.
I live across the country from him, he is currently in Chicago and I am in Utah. I try to help as much as I can but it’s hard when I’m so far away.
If anyone in the Chicago area knows of someone who would employ someone with a current pending “felony” because of the butt dial please let me know! He is a very hard worker.
