My name is Jordan Pembleton and I'm wanting to help my brother Nate, Mary & their two sons, Reid (12) & Silas (10), after the devastation they suffered with Hurricane Helene.
The rain and flooding came too quickly to evacuate the mountain they live on in Swannanoa, NC. They lost 2 cars to a landslide which impacted the ground around their home. The four of them witnessed the landslide and the resulting sound and devastation. They escaped to a neighbor's house further up the mountain but were essentially cut off with no power, internet, or cell communication. Ultimately, they were able to get down the mountain and were rescued by Mary's sister, Holly, and her husband Patrick. With my wife, Carly, and I meeting them to provide additional transport to Mooresville.
Nate is currently running donated supplies back up to Swannanoa. Nate is a small business owner and, based on the current conditions in Western Carolina, is unsure when he will get back to operating his business. Short-term goals include securing a short-term rental and buying Mary a used car. This will mean paying a mortgage and rent. Their insurance is not covering anything at this point. They have applied to FEMA for government assistance, but many have been denied already. It will be a long road forward.
Thank you for your help!
