My name is Nicole Whyte. I was born on the wonderful island of Jamaica in 1980. I migrated from Jamaica to the United States of America at age 21. Though I am an American citizen, Jamaica is my mother. I never forgot where I came from. The most wonderful thing about Jamaica is its people. We are rich in culture, where our food, music, lifestyle, and heart captivate the world. Who doesn't love Jamaica, both the country and what it represents? Our coat of arms is "Out Of Many We Are One," and the state of our culture rings true to that expression. Because of the profound impact this small country has on the world, many people mistake it for a big country. Another of our folk sayings is "We Likkle But Wi Tallowah!" In English, it means, 'We may be small, but our impact is great!' We, as a people, have been such an influential piece of treasure in this world culturally, where we embrace 'mimicking of our accent, people, and expressions of language' as a form of endearment and flattery. Truly, we enjoy the spotlight! However, there is a spotlight that is now upon us, and the imagery is heart-wrenching. As a nation, we desire to live again! A man's strength is seen in his humility. Though we've stood on our own for a long time, the time has come where we are not afraid and ashamed to say, "WE NEED YOUR HELP!" On behalf of the people who made me who I am, I am seeking donations to help those to whom our hands can reach. The saying rings true, "No Man Is An Island, No Man Stands Alone." Help us to stand again. Extend a helping hand of grace to balance these people on their feet. One thing with Jamaicans, they are grateful people; they will never forget to say THANK YOU! Now, here is what I am asking those of you who can: please contribute whatever you can to help these people. Nothing is too small, and nothing is too large. It can start with just $1, and it can go to one million dollars. Every penny counts. "One one cocoa full basket!" Help us and donate accordingly.
May God richly bless you and increase your purse more than what you have given.
On behalf of the Jamaican people... THANK YOU!
