Hi everyone, my name is Sharlene B,
I currently work as a childcare provider in Midtown Manhattan, but I was born and raised in Falmouth, Jamaica—a place that will always be my home and my heart.
I am reaching out with a very heavy heart. Recently, Hurricane Melissa caused severe destruction throughout parts of Jamaica, including my hometown of Falmouth. My family’s home, along with many others in the community, was badly damaged. Roofs have been torn off, belongings destroyed, and many families are now left without basic necessities and a safe place to stay.
Seeing the place I grew up in, the place filled with my childhood memories, now in this condition has been incredibly painful. It’s hard being away from home, knowing my loved ones and neighbors are struggling to rebuild piece by piece. I am doing my best to support from where I am, but the reality is that we need help.
I am raising funds to help repair my family’s home and to provide the essential items lost during hurricane melissa. Any amount, big or small, will go toward roofing repairs, food, clean water, clothing, and helping families regain stability after this heartbreaking disaster.
Your support — through donations, sharing this page, or keeping us in your prayers — means more than I can express. Thank you for taking the time to listen, care, and stand with us during this very difficult time.
With love and deep appreciation,
Sharlene Brooks
