Help Rebuild Great Bay: Beryl Relief Hurricane Fund

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Samantha Parchment-Andrews, and I come from the beautiful village of Great Bay in St. Elizabeth. Our community, Treasure Beach in St Elizabeth, is known for its warmth, hospitality, and close-knit spirit. But recently, our lives were turned upside down when a devastating hurricane Beryl, struck, leaving our community in ruins.

On the day hurricane Beryl hit on July 3rd, we watched in horror as our homes were battered by relentless winds and torrential rain. Trees were uprooted, light poles were down, all roads were impassable, roofs were torn off, and entire houses were destroyed. The place we called home was no longer recognizable. Families were left standing in the wreckage, unsure of where to turn or what to do next.

I am currently living in Canada, and this fundraiser is for the residents of Great Bay, Treasure Beach. I, Samantha Parchment-Andrews, will be receiving the donations on behalf of the community. The funds raised will be used directly to purchase the necessary supplies, such as zinc, for the relief and rebuilding efforts. I will work closely with local leaders and volunteers to ensure that the aid reaches those in critical need. Please note that I am raising these funds for my community and personally coordinating the relief efforts with the utmost integrity and honesty, ensuring that every donation is used transparently and effectively to aid those in need.

The Immediate Need:
In the aftermath, we quickly realized the magnitude of the disaster. Many of our families lost everything—their homes, belongings, and sense of security. The immediate need for shelter, food, and medical care became evident as we supported each other. But the challenges were overwhelming.
The Beryl Relief Hurricane Fund was born out of this crisis. Our mission is to provide urgent assistance to the residents. Your donations will be used to purchase building supplies (zinc) to help those who lost their roofs. Temporary fixes are crucial for immediate relief and protection before the next storm. In the long term, we aim to rebuild homes for families who have lost everything, restoring their sense of normalcy and security.

Where the Money Will Go:

Building Materials: We will purchase zinc (reroofing material) to repair and rebuild homes, starting with temporary fixes to provide immediate relief.

Transparency and Accountability:

We understand the importance of transparency and accountability in our efforts. Therefore, we have implemented the following measures to ensure that every dollar is used effectively:

Regular Updates: We will provide regular updates on our progress, including detailed reports on how funds are being used and the impact they are having on the community.

Financial Oversight: An independent committee will oversee all financial transactions to ensure that funds are allocated appropriately and efficiently.

Public Reporting: All financial records and project updates will be publicly accessible on our website, ensuring complete transparency for our donors and stakeholders.

Community Involvement: Local community members will be involved in the decision-making process to ensure that the needs of the residents are accurately and effectively addressed.

Plan for Distribution:

To ensure fair and efficient distribution of the funds and supplies, we have developed a comprehensive plan:

Assessment Team: A team of local volunteers and community leaders will conduct assessments to identify the families and individuals most in need based on the severity of their losses.
Priority List: Based on the assessments, a priority list will be created to ensure that the most vulnerable and severely affected receive the building materials first.
Distribution Points: Safe and accessible distribution points will be established where families can collect their allocated supplies.
Tracking and Reporting: We will keep detailed records of all distributions to ensure accountability and transparency. Regular reports will be provided to donors to show how their contributions are making a difference.
