My Story

My name is Christopher Brown, and I was born and raised in Bunkers Hill, Trelawny, a small rural community tucked away in the hills of Jamaica.

Growing up there felt like living in paradise. We ate fruits from the trees, played by the river, and looked out for one another like family. That sense of unity and love built our character and taught us to be proud, humble, and resilient.

Today, that same community that raised me is fighting to survive.

The Storm That Changed Everything

When Hurricane Melissa tore through Jamaica, it passed directly over Trelawny as a Category 5 storm, leaving behind unimaginable destruction.

My own family, including my mom, grandmother, uncles, aunts, and cousins, all lost their homes or suffered severe damage. Many of our neighbors are now displaced, sleeping under broken roofs or staying with relatives who are already struggling.

Historic parts of Bunkers Hill, including schools, churches, and other community landmarks, were also badly damaged. What was once a proud and peaceful place is now facing devastation and despair.

Because Bunkers Hill is small and remote, it is often overlooked when government aid is distributed. Larger towns get help first, while families here wait in silence, hoping someone remembers them.

Our Mission: 10 Starter Packs to Rebuild 10 Homes

We are raising funds to help 10 families in Bunkers Hill rebuild their homes using Starter Packs — bundles of essential building materials sold locally in Jamaica.

Each pack provides the basics to rebuild a safe 12x12 room and an 8x8 bathroom. It includes:

✅ 1,000 concrete blocks

✅ 100 bags of cement

✅ 1 ton of ½” steel

✅ ¼ ton of ⅜” steel

✅ 10 sheets of ply board

✅ 10 pieces of 1x3x16 lumber

Each Starter Pack costs about $487,750 JMD (about $3,200 USD).

Our goal is to raise $32,000 USD to purchase 10 packs and help 10 families begin again.

But this effort is about more than just homes. It is about reviving hope, rebuilding our local economy, and restoring the spirit of Bunkers Hill. All materials will be purchased from local Jamaican suppliers to support jobs and strengthen the community from within.
