Help Rebuild Bruce's Tornado-Ravaged Home

***This is a surprise fundraiser for Bruce and his family please do not spoil the surprise***
On May 26th, 2024 a powerful category EF-3 tornado with 135+MPH winds ripped through southern Cooke County Texas unexpectedly and with zero warning due to a malfunction in the town's sirens. Ultimately the tornado took seven lives, injured more than 460+ people, and amassed $26M in damages.
Many homes and businesses were destroyed including the home of retired and fully disabled US Navy Veteran Bruce Dareing, his wife Jenny, their two young daughters, and 3 dogs. Bruce owns a firearms company that I have been a loyal customer for many years and shortly after the storm I contacted Bruce to offer any help with cleanup and food for their family. It was then for the first time I experienced the true damage a tornado can cause in person. During the cleanup/rebuild process I went from calling Bruce my "gunsmith" to a true friend.
Bruce posted a heartbreaking update on 2/19/2025 about how dire the situation for his family and business have become. The insurance company didn't pay out enough to cleanup, demo, and rebuild of the house, and ultimately only covered a new foundation and the outer shell of the house. This means Bruce, myself, and many others have joined in the efforts to do as much of these tasks as possible since all of the funds are now gone. As of his last update insurance will no longer pay for their rental after April 1st. Currently, Bruse is trying to convert a shipping container into a livable space for his family.
Between setbacks of the house, relocating his shop, ATF audits, and surgery he has not been able to focus on the business and their major source of income.
Bruce served his country proudly and retired from the Navy to pursue his passion for gunsmithing. Please join me in trying to raise enough funds Bruce and his family to rebuild their family home. He is a proud military vet who is only asking for nails, screws, and any extra furniture to refurbish his home. But I believe we can do WAY better than that for a Vet. Any amount helps. In his update he is more concerned for the others still suffering from the long-term devastation and will be doing charity to raise funds for the community but refuses to ask for funds for himself.
I will provide any updates as they become available.
