A very much loved iconic piece of local Blackheath history has been pretty much destroyed due to a car hitting the Tea Hut with such force, that it rotated the hut 90 degrees, destroying the water, gas and electric supplies to the Tea Hut. Jackie Blackwell was badly injured as she was inside working at the time as has suffered burns from the boiling tea urn that went over her as well as a broken sternum and ribs. She will be needing physiotherapy to help her on her recovery. Jackie, along with the other fab staff members, will all inevitably be suffering from financial loss of earnings and I'd like to be able to raise as much funds and/or offers of assistance to help alleviate some of the stress and worry that they are all going through at this time.
The Tea Hut has been around for many many years, and a frequent meeting place for bikers, car enthusiasts and people stopping by for a cuppa tea and a legendary "Animal Burger". I wanted to start this campaign to raise funds to help get the Tea Hut rebuilt ASAP along with funds to help the staff members for any loss of earnings too.
I used to be a regular biker up the Tea Hut when I lived back in London before I moved over to Wiltshire in 2018 and know Jo, Jackie, George and Shannon (the manager). When I do pop over to London, I'd try and make a detour to stop off and say hello, grab a hot choc and a cake and just chill on the bench for a bit while catching up with others up there. I have made Shannon aware of this GoFundMe campaign to help raise some funds and I do appreciate people's concerns about donating etc. Honestly, it's more to help raise awareness and if anyone can help out in anyway then that's even more awesome!! I just thought it would be a lovely gesture to show how much people care about this iconic little landmark on the corner of Blackheath Common along with the fantastic and much loved members of staff!
Much love and respect and thank you once again for your support and kindness,
Please help share and donate even the smallest amount that you possibly can.
