Big Rock Campground has always been a place where friends, family, and our community could gather, celebrate, and make memories. Recently, a devastating flood changed everything. The 6-year-old manmade lake, where we had been raising fish for years, was washed away, and the main campground was destroyed, leaving the entire property covered in two feet of mud. Our two RVs and trailers were damaged, both boats were damaged, and the patio, kitchen, and all seating areas were devastated. The flattop grill, Tonir, four refrigerators, all cabinets, tables, chairs, the entire outdoor kitchen, outdoor sauna, and one of our excavators were lost. All the batteries, the newly installed security system, solar panels, outdoor furniture, and outdoor storage units were completely washed away. We can no longer enjoy the campsite as we once did.
The loss is overwhelming. Not only have I lost so many of the things that made Big Rock Campground special, but I can no longer stay at the property overnight. Every waking moment is spent cleaning and trying to salvage what little remains. The flood took away more than just physical structures—it disrupted the heart of our community gatherings and the place where so many memories were made, including the lake and the fish we cared for over the past six years.
I am reaching out for your help to recover and rebuild. Your support will go directly toward repairing and replacing these vital items and restoring Big Rock Campground to the welcoming place it has always been. If you would like to physically help with the cleanup, please contact me—any hands are welcome. Any contribution, big or small, will make a difference and help bring our community back together. We also need dumpsters to help with the cleanup. Thank you for considering a donation and for being part of this journey to restore our gathering place.
