In January, after months of the same repeated illnesses - Madison began to question the roof that kept leaking through the duct work during monsoon season, that their landlord refused to fix after multiple maintenance requests. Every other week they were sick with high fevers, upper respiratory issues, pain and fatigue, bloody noses, visual disturbances, and more. An ERMI was done and samples were collected from the bedrooms and bathroom. The results came back scoring higher than the test allows for, with multiple species of black mold specifically caused by water damage.

Madison contacted the landlord immediately demanding they terminate the lease without any penalties. They complied, and gave them only 2 days to move out.

Due to the type of molds present in the home, Edwin and Madison were forced to throw away 95% of their entire home. Left with ONLY glass items and linens able to be washed in a special solution. Madison was even forced to throw away her son, Lincoln’s, keepsakes.

Items that haven’t been treated Madison reacts terribly to them.

After leaving the home, the landlord sent a certified letter stating he wouldn’t be giving back the security deposit unless Madison signed stating she would release him from all liabilities regarding the mold.

Mycotoxin tests confirmed that mold had colonized within their bodies. Results came back with the same species as the rental and at very high levels.

Fast forward to now, they are still struggling with their health and are without a home.

The entire family needs to be detoxed. Right now, Iris is needing intense detoxing that will cost $350 a month to help stop her hair from falling out, give her tummy relief and help strengthen her immune system all while removing the mycotoxins from her system. Madison is still figuring out treatment plans due to new symptoms causing her to shake as if she has Parkinson’s.

This sweet little family is grasping for a break and quite frankly deserves one.
