Help Rebuild a Town in Puerto Rico
Donation protected
Hurricane Maria exposed the vulnerabilities of Barrio Playa, a town in which residents were stranded for weeks due to catastrophic flooding that blocked the only exit out. News reports documented residents trapped in 5 - 7 feet of stagnant water filled with dead livestock, leading to bacterial outbreaks threatening the lives of children, seniors and the medically frail.
Barrio Playa’s homes and green spaces were destroyed and its economy devastated due to the loss of small businesses and its fishing pier. It is now one year later and the town is still in the rebuilding process and needs your help!
The funds raised through this campaign will go to a host of community building events including a 5k community run, health fair, and hurricane preparedness planning. We are raising fund to covers costs for programming and for equipment (e.g., tractor, trimmers, blowers, ladders, etc.) that will be delivered to Barrio Playa at the community 5k run planned for September 23rd.
Please help in any way you can to the rebuilding process for Barrio Playa!
