Help Rebekah & Kids Recover after a House Fire

Donation protected
Two weeks ago, Rebekah and her three children woke up to their home on fire. In less than 10 minutes, everything they had was gone—their home of seven years, the place where she raised her youngest children, all their belongings, Rebekah’s place of work since she works remotely, and most of all, their sense of safety and home. As they stood outside watching it burn, soaked from the fire hoses, the only thing that mattered was that they made it out alive. It wasn’t until the following days that the reality of losing everything truly began to set in.

Rebekah is a single mother of three. Her oldest son, Tanner, had just returned home after serving seven years in the Army, and he is the reason they are alive—he woke the family up and got them out. Her 15-year-old daughter, Briannah, a freshman class president, cellist, and incredible artist, is the heart of the family. Her youngest, Micah, 12, is a bright sixth grader who loves soccer, Legos, and a collection of plush dinosaurs, and has been grieving the loss of the little things that meant the most. While nothing matters more than the safety of her children, Rebekah is now facing the overwhelming reality of starting over with nothing.

They have been moving between hotels and Airbnbs and have even spent nights sleeping in the car. The emotional and financial toll is already significant, and the family is still at the very beginning of this journey. Their most immediate need is stable housing so Rebekah can maintain her work-from-home job and the kids can finish their school year in a safe space. From there, they will need help replacing the essentials to rebuild their lives. The goal is not just to get through this moment, but to make sure this tragedy does not set them back in a way that Rebekah cannot recover from long term. This is one of the hardest things Rebekah has ever had to do—asking for help and sharing her story beyond her small circle of family and friends. Thank you for taking the time to read their story, and for any support you’re able to give, even if it is just sharing this page.
