Help Rebecca and Dorren's Family Continue Their Mission

Donation protected
Over the past decade, I have seen many GoFundMe accounts created for families for various reasons, and over the years, I have given to them. However, I have not created one for anyone, until now.

My sister Rebecca and her husband, Dorren, have wanted to be the light of Jesus in the Middle East since before they were married. After almost 2 years of setbacks, they finally made it last fall of 2023. They fundraised for a few years, took counseling classes, worked in the process of full-time fundraising, and had two little boys. While they lived stateside, they also devoted their time to Syrian refugees, helping them find places to live and work legally, so much so that in 2016, Dorren dropped out of college to devote full time to helping refugees in Chicago. They both also served in Jordan on short trips serving refugees.

Rebecca and Dorren have been examples of being the hands and feet of Jesus, whether they were stateside or overseas. They meet people where they are and serve them. The root of their ministry is Heidi Baker's words, “Stop for the one in front of you,” as in see and love the person God puts in front of you.

The reason for my creating a GoFundMe is that many of the people who pledged to give to them have either not or stopped. The cost of living in the Middle East has become much higher than anyone could have anticipated when they arrived last fall as well.

Rebecca and Dorren have until the end of July to raise enough funds to support themselves and their 2 boys for at least six more months while they work on a longer-term solution, such as Dorren working locally in the Middle East. They are also reaching out to people who pledged to give and others. They are doing everything they can do.

The reason for 6 months is that they must pay 6 months' worth of rent, taxes, and utilities upfront.

My goal is to raise money for them to cover their housing (including taxes and utilities) for the next 6 months. I know that may seem like a lot to ask, but I am one who steps out in faith and asks BIG. I live a life believing for the impossible whether that be for me or for others

I would love to share where they live, but as many know, when you are a missionary, especially in the Middle East, you cannot tell the public your whereabouts. They are both in language school and are building relationships in the community where they have settled. They are meeting needs and loving well.

I believe their time in the Middle East is not up so I want to do what I can beyond monthly giving to help keep them there. Not everyone is called to be the hands and feet of Jesus in this way overseas, but they are. Rebecca and Dorren are not just going overseas and hanging out in a church. They have immersed themselves in the people, learning the language, stopping for the one in front of them.

If you feel inclined to give money to help support my sister and her family in staying in the Middle East, it would be awesome!

People helping other people is love, and I want to love them financially This GoFundMe was my idea. I am a person of integrity, and I would NEVER ask unless I felt it was a true need.

Thank you!
