Raymond is my neighbor and a disabled US Marine Corps Veteran who has lived in his home for over 30 years. Recently, his world was turned upside down when Hettinger County sold his house without his knowledge due to delinquent property taxes. Despite the efforts of Legal Services of North Dakota, who worked tirelessly for two months to help Raymond reclaim his home, they were ultimately unsuccessful. Now, Raymond faces the heartbreaking reality of being forced out of the only home he has known for decades. All of his possessions, keepsakes, important paperwork, and cherished photos must be moved into storage, and we are left uncertain about where Raymond will live or what will happen to his two beloved dogs.

We are seeking donations to help cover the costs of a storage unit, moving Raymond's belongings, securing temporary housing, and ultimately finding him a new place to live. The funds will also help care for his dogs and support his ongoing medical needs. This is a devastating shock to Raymond. His home was paid for, so his Social Security and Veteran's Disability benefits were just enough to cover food and utilities. Now, with nowhere to go and no way to afford rent, Raymond is facing an uncertain and frightening future.
