On June 6th, Daniel Tenen, a beloved, hardworking father of two kids, was detained by ICE at the corner of his block at around 6 in the morning. He was on his way to help support his family and put food on the table. He was arrested as if he was a top wanted criminal, with ICE officials blocking the road with their vehicle and demanding he step out of his car. Since he was not fully informed of his rights, he was forced to step out of his car and was detained. His only “crime” here in the US was coming into America back in 1995 to support his family back in Ecuador and to escape the horrible conditions of workplaces in Ecuador during that time.

His two kids, one in college and one who is graduating high school this year, are both in shock about the whole situation. The boy graduating high school this year is devastated over the fact that his dad will not be able to physically see him walk the stage even after all the hardships Daniel went through to give him this opportunity. It is even more devastating since he has always been there for every accomplishment both boys ever had—spring recitals, graduations, award ceremonies—and now for the biggest achievement of his life, will be the one time his dad won’t be able to make it, not by choice but by something out of his control.

Any money we raise for Daniel will be put towards paying his lawyers and towards paying his bond and all other expenses his family will now have to bear.

Now that we are going through this, we believe that the separation of all families should come to an end and that we stand up to this injustice.
