We’re raising funds to support our dear friends Michael Clarke and his brother Darren, who are currently being held in Maghaberry Prison. They have been detained since September 2025 on suspicion of involvement in arson attacks on 5G towers, based solely on circumstantial evidence. At this time, no charges have been proven, yet they remain in custody.

Being in prison places a huge financial strain on both the men inside and the family members outside. Michael and Darren have now exhausted all of their savings, as basic essentials and phone calls from prison are extremely expensive. Michael also has a young family on the outside who depend on him, adding to the emotional and financial pressure.

While being held, they receive just £10 per week, which barely covers anything. For example, a simple packet of teabags — one of the few comforts available to them — costs nearly £4 in the prison tuck shop. They are locked in their cells for up to 23 hours a day, most days, making these small comforts incredibly important for their mental wellbeing.

To cover essential phone calls alone, they need at least £40 per week. Any additional support would help with basic toiletries and small items like biscuits — small things that make a big difference in such difficult circumstances.
