Help raise £5000 for a new way to end homelessness
Donation protected
I have personally lived as a homeless single mother and have been given the drive to start a non profit organisation to help end the cycle.
Often we see homeless people and wonder, how did they get in that situation and what are they doing to get out of it?
Little did I know how easy it is to be left without a helping hand.
I was invited to speak at Tedx Talk Bedford and one of the questions I had to ask myself whilst I was writing my speech is, what do I need in order to get out of being homeless?
I ended up creating A Hand To Guide, which is a non profit organisation where victims who have escaped domestic abuse, and ended up homeless or alone, are paired up with a buddy to help them nativate through their new life.
The buddy can provide advice on finances, job or housing etc. The list of help is endless.
The buddy will be available 24 hours a day in person or via video call.
If a buddy system was in place when I left my partner, I believe I would have got on my feet faster. But at that time I felt incredibly lonely and felt nobody would listen to me.
A Hand To Guide aims to treat everyone like a friend and its often the little things that make all the difference.
We are currently meeting with a huge number of charities and councils, all willing to help but it is a difficult process without funding.
Every penny we raise will go to keeping A Hand to Guide running and reaching many who need us the most.
Feel free to donate as little or more as every penny counts!
We will be uploading our journey regularly so please visit us on www.handtoguide.co.uk or instagram: @ahandtoguide
