Hi my name is Rachel and I’m a local artist in Tillamook, Oregon. This summer I started working with the family and team at Luz Mexican Restaurant at 1015 Pacific Ave to help transform the exterior of their building with some artwork and colorful signage.

Our vision is for the building, which used to be a gas station, to look more like the fun restaurant that it is, and go from "ordinary" to serving as a festive Tillamook landmark of our local food scene and community.

We just found out that we need to apply for a Sign Permit to do this work, which is an unexpected cost that we can’t cover with our budget.

Any funds you are able to donate will go directly to pay for the Sign Permit application, which costs $874.99. Once we raise that amount (I know we can do it!), I’ll withdraw the funds to my personal bank account, and they’ll be used immediately to pay for the Sign Permit application. I have already discussed the plans and scale for this project with City of Tillamook Planning and have assured it meets all Zoning requirements. Once the Permit is approved, I will get back to painting and this building will be transformed by the end of summer!

Any additional funds we raise (because all donations will help this small business thrive!) will go first to cover the cost of materials of this project (primer, paint, sealant, brushes, etc.), and then towards helping us complete additional beautification projects for this building, such as planter repairs, new plants, etc.

I have worked hard on this project because I know it will draw attention and smiles from all who see this building coming through town, whether on their way to work on a daily commute, or traveling the 101 for the first time. I hope it will show how much we as a community pay respect to our local culture and small businesses, and show pride of ownership in all we do.
