Our sister, Rach has always been the kind of person who showed up. For her students, for her colleagues, for our family — she has given everything to those around her with nothing but love, compassion, and a fierce dedication to making a difference.
Just over 3 years ago she left the corporate world to follow her dreams of being a teacher. Now, as a dedicated special education teacher, her classroom was a sanctuary — a place where children who often felt unseen finally felt understood. She poured her heart into every lesson, every small breakthrough, every quiet victory. Her students weren’t just part of her job — they were her life’s purpose. She has always believed in the potential of every child, no matter how many challenges they faced. And she showed up for them every single day, with patience, compassion, and unshakable belief.
Now, she’s facing a challenge of her own.
Just weeks ago, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. The kind that doesn’t wait and doesn’t let you keep working through it. Her doctors have laid out a 6-12 month treatment plan: months of chemotherapy, followed by potentially more surgeries and radiation. The treatments will be hard on her body, and the risk of infection is too high. To give herself the best shot at beating this, she has no choice but to step away from the classroom. That means no income for the year ahead.
That’s the hardest part. Walking away from the kids, because cancer is forcing her to. She won’t just lose her income — she’s losing the daily joy, and the spark that teaching has given her.
The truth is, she can’t do this alone.
With no ability to work during treatment, she’s facing not just a health crisis but a financial one too. She needs support to cover her living expenses and the basic necessities that won’t stop just because her world has been turned upside down.
We’re asking for your help so she can focus on surviving and beating this cancer — not on how she’ll pay her bills. So she can rest without fear. Heal without pressure.
Every donation, no matter the size, brings her one step closer to healing. To surviving. To walking back into that classroom one day and doing what she loves again. Please help us give her that chance.
Rach has made the brave decision to shave her head — her way of taking a little control in an otherwise uncontrollable situation.
Join us at The Royal Hotel (Wyong) on Saturday, 26th July from 5:30pm for a night of trivia, auctions, games — and to witness Rach’s head shave as we rally around her with love and support.
We’d love to see you all there!
