Hi, We're Miles and Leo and we run queer and trans kickabout in Bristol. We do this for free, for the love of the game and the love of cultivating community spaces.
Kickabout is a space to connect with community, have fun, run around as the sun goes down and move your body.
It is a space to encourage queer and trans folks who wouldn't usually find themselves in a sports setting to ease in, in a gentle and encouraging environment.
It is also a space to play football because football is for all. We welcome all abilities and whatever you're feeling to get out on the pitch.
We've played 10 aside with no bibs and it's confusing! We put it down to a vote and decided to go with pink and blue for team colours. In pursuit of football anarchy, because it happens every thursday on the pitch, we scrapped typical bib vests for bandannas. This is also more accessible to queer and trans folks because it means no extra layers of clothing that might not fit in a way that makes our bodies feel good. Bandannas can be worn however you want AND also look hella cool!
We have also bought balls and cones out of our own pockets. So this will cover that and some bags to keep everything together.
A breakdown:
15 blue bandannas £15
15 pink bandannas £15
4 footballs £30
10 cones £5
ball pump £4.50
Any extra will go towards some better footballs.
Lots of love and all the trans joy,
Leo and Miles. x
