Help Qin Provide Smiles in Vietnam

Dearest colleagues, family, and friends,

As some of you may know, volunteering and giving back to the community is a core value of mine. From volunteering weekly at a food pantry during the COVID pandemic to regularly volunteering with Coalition for the Homeless, providing services to the underserved is a goal I continually engage in. In anticipation of my upcoming dental school applications, and future career as a dentist, I am looking to broaden my scope of service, and go global - by embarking on a dental outreach trip to Vietnam this August 5-19.

This important trip will be in partnership with VAW Global Health Alliances (VAW Global), and the two weeks will be spent promoting public health through service projects. VAW Global is a global health and development organization committed to cultivating sustainable and equitable partnerships through support and capacity-building for essential and accessible health services. Our primary project will be to hold mobile dental clinics, where we will work directly with local health care professionals to provide free dental care to communities, from consultations to treatments. We will also visit surrounding elementary schools, and teach the children basic public health classes.

In order to make this trip a success, I need your help! The funds I am looking to raise will cover the following expenses:

Program Fee - $1995

Medication & Supplies (for the clinic) - $200

Flight - $742

GoFundMe Fees (2.9%) - $85

Total Goal - $3022

Your support will not only help provide the necessary dental care and attention to these communities in rural Vietnam, but it will also help my professional growth and development as a dentist-to-be. This experience will provide me with the worldview and understanding of how fortunate we are to have a world-class private health care system that is simply not obtainable elsewhere in the world. Furthermore, it will provide me with the opportunity to cultivate my compassion for those in need, in a capacity that I hope to continue in the future, as a dentist.
