For Nyla,

and for every little one who became an angel too soon.

May this kids' book help families find the words for the love that never ends.

Author’s Note & Mission

After losing my daughter Nyla, I decided to make a book.

This book is for the children who watch their mother leave the house pregnant and come home with no baby.

It’s also for the mothers like me — who left the hospital with with their baby and found them lifeless in the morning we all have empty arms and came home empty-handed.

That conversation with your child — explaining where the baby they were waiting for went — is the hardest conversation I’ve ever had in my life. It broke my heart, and it still does every day.

I’m on a mission to help mothers like me find the words to express, as gently and clearly as possible, that their child has lost a sibling — whether before meeting them or after spending precious time together — and that their baby simply isn’t coming home. Children get confused, as mine did, and this book is meant to help them understand in a comforting and loving way. This book was created with that very purpose — to bring clarity, comfort, and love to a conversation no parent ever wants to have.

My goal is to publish this book and use the proceeds remaining will allow me to make enough copies to give to hospitals. I want hospitals to have copies ready so that when the unthinkable happens, families have something they can take home — something that helps them talk to their children, process their grief, and begin to heal. Anything above will continue to covering cost of the official books to be placed in as many hospitals I can to help families in need of words.

The quicker I can get this book published, the quicker I can start placing them in hospitals — so spouses, family members, or mothers themselves can bring a copy home and use it to gently guide that heartbreaking conversation.

I hope that, together as grieving mothers, we can unite to bring this mission to life.

I wrote this book myself, and I am very proud of it — proud to honor Nyla’s name and to help others find understanding, hope, and healing through her story.

Acknowledgments

First and foremost, I want to thank God for giving me the strength to keep going when I didn’t think I could.

To my family — thank you for standing beside me through the hardest days of my life. To my children, who loved Nyla deeply and continue to carry her in their hearts — your strength inspires me every day.

To every grieving mother, I see you. I feel your pain. I honor your love and your courage. This book is for you — for the moments when words fail, when your heart feels too heavy to speak, and when you just want your child to understand what happened in a way that feels gentle and true.

To the families who have supported this mission, thank you for believing in Nyla’s story and helping turn grief into something healing and meaningful.

And finally, to my sweet Nyla — you are my light, my reason, and my forever inspiration. Mommy loves you endlessly.
