Wilmer has been serving as a volunteer with Broad Reach Maritime in Greece, helping operate a fleet of sailboats in the Aegean Sea used for evangelism, supporting remote island communities and churches, and providing hands-on opportunities for discipleship, including taking teams of young people as part of a structured discipleship program.
Over the past two years, he has poured his heart into the massive refit of a 90-foot, 75-ton gaff-rigged schooner, work that has demanded long days, persistence, and a commitment to the mission.
Today, Wilmer continues to serve wherever he’s needed: assisting with boat projects, crewing trips to the islands, and stepping into the role of first mate. In the coming season, he hopes to earn his skipper’s license and eventually skipper a small sloop by next summer. For now, he’s primarily stationed on the schooner *Encounter*, which he calls home.
As winter approaches, conditions on the water become cold, wet, and extremely windy. To continue serving safely and effectively, Wilmer needs specialized winter gear that protects against the harsh weather he’ll encounter at sea.
If you’d like to bless him for his birthday, your support will go directly toward equipping him with the gear he needs to stay warm, dry, and safe as he continues the work God has placed before him. Every gift, large or small, makes a real difference.
Thanks for thinking about blessing and supporting him in this meaningful way.
