Help Provide Water to Rwandan School Children!
Donation protected
Clean water is a fundamental need. However, currently millions still live without access.
We are a team of engineering students from the University of Wollongong who are travelling to the African country Rwanda in December 2020 to install a sustainable, filtered water system for a school called Fruits of Hope Academy. Fruits of Hope Academy aims to enrich children’s education and the surrounding community to give children the future they deserve.
Rwanda is a central African country which is on the road to recovery after a devastating past. In 1994, the country was changed forever following the Rwandan genocide, a tragedy that led to the loss of 800,000 Rwandan lives. While Rwanda is now a very different country 26 years later, the country is still scared from this horrific and saddening event. The children of Rwanda offer unique and important perspectives on how to help and heal the country and it’s essential they obtain the best opportunities possible.
The absence of a clean water supply in the summer months and lack of shelters for children surrounding the sports pitch are two of the main issues currently faced by the school. Our aim is to address these issues by installing multiple rainwater tanks and shelters to provide access to sustainable and clean water and protection from harsh weather conditions.
Every cent counts, and your generous donations will help with every step of the project, from hiring local people to purchasing local materials for the construction of the water and sports field shelter.
Please get involved and help improve the lives of this wonderful community.
