Help Provide Vital Medical Care in Gulu, Uganda
Donation protected
I am going to Uganda for a medical mission trip in September. This will be my second time doing this mission trip. The group is called Medical Missions Foundation, based out of Lenexa, KS. We will be working at St. Mary’s Lacor in Gulu. Upon landing in Uganda, we wake up early the next day and travel to the village. We go straight to the hospital and start screening people who have been lining up over the past week in hopes of receiving life-changing surgeries.
While there, we will be performing prostate resection surgeries and teaching CPR classes to staff and students. Many men in the areas suffer from enlarged prostates and would not be able to afford these surgeries without us due to lack of government medical aid. I specifically will be caring for patients on the floors while they recover after surgery. This article gives some great insight into the community I get to experience while working on the floor https://www.medicalmissionsfoundation.org/uganda-2019-the-hippo-room/.
I loved working with and training the nurses at the hospital, while also learning from them. It was so incredible to see how much of a difference we were able to make in our patients' lives and see all of them cheerful and bonding after surgery. I cannot wait to return this year and continue serving this community that I hold so close to my heart. I will be bringing suitcases full of supplies that we will donate to the hospital there. Your donations will go towards that as well as my travel and room and board fees while in Uganda. I greatly appreciate any and all donations! Thank you so much and wish us luck as we embark on our journey in a month!
