Hello, my name is Joy Villa and I originally came from Cebu, Philippines. A 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck our island on the night of September 30, leaving many families without safe shelter. People are sleeping on the streets and open fields because they’ve lost their homes, and some fear aftershocks, keeping them from returning to their already damaged homes. The communities are in urgent need of basic, durable shelter.
I’ve started a GoFundMe to raise funds to purchase camping tents that can accommodate 4–6 people per set. Each tent costs 980 Philippine pesos (about $17). We’ve already donated a few tents directly, but there are still hundreds of families without adequate shelter.
What the funds will do:
Purchase and distribute camping tents that sleep 4–6 people
Provide essential shelter while homes are repaired or rebuilt
Support families during aftershocks and the ongoing relief period
Why I’m asking for your help:
Every donation, big or small, brings us closer to providing a safe space for more families.
Local purchase and direct distribution help ensure tents reach those who need them most, quickly.
How you can help:
Contribute what you can. Even small amounts make a difference.
Trust and accountability:
I will post regular updates with photos (where allowed) showing tents being delivered and families helped.
Thank you for your generosity and for standing with the people of Cebu during this difficult time. Your support brings immediate relief and hope to families in need.
