Help Provide Essential Care for my Mother
Donation protected
I make this request for any amount you are able and willing to contribute to the 24/7 in-home care expenses of a sweet and loving octogenarian who has been robbed of her physical strength and her ability to verbally communicate her daily needs due to the degenerative illness – dementia. In a country that is one of the wealthiest in the world, our elderly are not afforded the healthcare, and subsequently the dignity to age gracefully and with services that should be afforded them commiserate to the years of professional service provided – service that in whatever capacity that was, moved the needle to help a community in these United States grow, or help a young person thrive.
I, a stroke survivor and my mother's caretaker, I advocate for her who needs 24-hour care for her current and progressive debilitating condition. I, like many others with similar stories, quit my job to help care for her full-time. I soon realized that I needed a team, because I live across the country. As I navigate moving closer to her to check on her daily, I continue to pay for current daily care and ever-increasing expenses associated with her care, from a fast dwindling financial resources. I have no income other than my permanent disability, which partially sustains my personal monthly expenses. I have been exploring government assistance and care placement, which is a process of time and patience. Until such time, and if those resources become available, my mom needs reasonable, safe, and dignified care. We are in need of cash to pay for her continuing 24/7 in-home care for the remainder of the year.
The expenses: Full-time caretakers earn on average $28/hour.
I appeal to your sense of humanity, your practice and your belief in the Golden Rule to please, help me to care for my mother as we both become accustomed to our new normal, and as we maintain her quality of life.
We are relying on the kindness of our local and national communities to help us reach our goal while I navigate through the bureaucracy of government applications and waiting times.
