Help provide clean water for school kids on Mafia Island
Donation protected
Hi, we’re Poppy and Ismey, interns at Kitu Kiblu on Mafia Island, Tanzania. We’re raising funds to provide water filters for local schoolchildren at Jibondo secondary school, who currently face a tough choice: drink unsafe tap water or rely on bottled water, which contributes to harmful plastic pollution.
The island has no recycling facilities, so much of the plastic ends up being discarded or burned on the beaches, further harming the environment. By providing water filters, we can ensure the children have access to safe, clean drinking water directly from the tap. This will not only improve their health and hydration, but also help reduce plastic waste on the island.
Your support will make a lasting impact on the lives of these children and the community as a whole. Thank you for helping us make this essential change!
These water filters need to be imported into the island and cost around 120,000 Tanzanian shillings each which is around £35 and we aim to provide at least 10 water filters for the school as well as reusable cups and cleaning supplies for the school.
