We’re reaching out during a time of uncertainty and urgency. Jamie and I have been together for over 20 years and are legally married. We are proud parents to our two incredible daughters, Quinn and Taylor, whom we conceived using a donor. From the moment they were born, Jamie was rightfully listed as their parent on their birth certificates.

However, with the shifting political landscape, her legal parenthood and our family’s protections are at risk. Organizations like the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR), Lambda Legal, and Family Equality strongly advise that LGBTQ+ parents solidify their legal rights through second-parent adoption, as birth certificates alone may not be enough to safeguard parental rights in uncertain times.

This process is not just emotionally exhausting—it comes with unexpected legal and court fees that put a financial strain on our family. We never imagined we would have to fight for something so fundamental: the security and recognition of our family in the eyes of the law.

We are asking for your help to cover legal expenses so that Jamie can legally adopt the children she has raised and loved since birth.
