I am raising funds for legal fees and expenses (private pay mental health evaluation, car rental to commute) to stop my mother's brother from being granted guardianship/conservatorship over her. March 2025 he filed for guardianship over my mother, and was awarded temporary guardianship. My mother did not ask for this and doesn't want to have a guardian. She has expressed that if the court is going to bypass her desire to not have a guardian, she would like me to be her guardian. I currently have a lawyer and need help with legal fees. One of the immediate asks is to raise and utilize $1000.00 for a private mental health evaluation. This is a requirement for the petition that I am filing. I am also asking for support with expenses to ensure that I can be in town when she has hearings, to provide court proceeding advocacy. The temporary guardianship proceedings have blocked my mother from accessing her bank account. Her intention was too assist with the costs of the legal fees, but she is unable too now.
