Help Protect Doña Ana's Historic Cemetery
Tax deductible
The Doña Ana Village Historic Preservation Committee is raising funds to erect a fence around the historic Doña Ana cemetery. The cemetery has never had a fence and has been vandalized several times over the years. Recently it was vandalized once again when off-road vehicles drove through the cemetery and damaged several of the gravesites. The historic cemetery has several military veterans buried there from the Mexican-American War, Civil War, and “Indian” Wars. The earliest known burial in the cemetery is from 1849, but more than likely there are earlier unmarked gravesites. As part of our ongoing mission to preserve the cultural heritage of Doña Ana we feel it is very important to get the cemetery fenced off to help protect it from future vandalism.
