Help Prevent Eviction at Christmas

We’re reaching out for assistance as we can no longer navigate this on our own despite our best efforts. The last few years has rocked our family with setback after setback on multiple fronts and now leaves us under the very real posibility of being evicted from our home of the last 10yrs, on Dec 19th, right before Christmas.
As some are aware back in 2021, in the midst of a pandemic that destroyed my wife’s small business, I underwent a series of surgeries, (one planned + one emergency) that I haven’t fully recovered from. The operations and subsequent immune system crash has basically left me on long term disability and our family under a mountain of debt thanks to a misshandled disability claim that is currently in the hands of lawyers, but with no resolution in sight. Then earlier this year, the one treatment for my arthritis that helped manage my disease the best stopped working, we have yet to find a replacement biologic so I am constantly plagued by flareups and immune crashes until we do.
While trying to manage my health issues we’ve also been fighting for testing and support for our 9yr old son. After more than 5 years of us pushing doctors and educators alike for assessments, our little guy was confirmed as being on the spectrum with a combined autism/adhd diagnosis. We’re still waiting for a psycho educational assessmemt, but this diagnosis opens up funding that will help us manage issues like his sensory aversions and provide necessary therapies for him & us. However, the wait list is extremely long and we were warned it could be months or years before we’re able to access the supports/funding.
Attempting to provide for his special needs, all of our medications (have spent $7000 thus far ton my medications alone AFTER insurance this year) on a severly reduced income has left us on the verge of losing our home. We were denied assistance by the Toronto Rent Bank until a payment of 50% of the arrears is made.
I’m honestly terrified at the prospect of losing the only home our son has known, having to switch schools and lose what support systems he currently has in place during a time that he should only be wondering what’s under the tree.
I cannot stress enough the thanks and appreciation for everyone that’s helped us in the past and those that are able to assist us now, even if just sharing our cause. We’re honestly in need of a miracle
