Our Story
We are Sakher and Somaia. We married just two months before the war began on October 7, 2023. In the midst of all the destruction, our little boy, Khaled, was born on July 30th, 2024 — our only light in this endless darkness, a reminder of life in the middle of death.
Before the war, I (Sakher) worked as an Industrial Engineer, and Somaia was a medical laboratory doctor. But after October 7th, 2023, everything collapsed. We lost our jobs, our savings, and even the ability to buy food, clean water, and medicine.
Since then, we have been displaced five times, escaping from one place to another with nothing but hope. In May 2024, we fled Rafah when the invasion reached our city. By 2025, satellite images confirmed our worst fear: Rafah — along with our home, our dreams, and every memory we held dear — had been completely destroyed.
Now we are left without a home, struggling every single day to keep Khaled alive. Rent for even a small apartment starts at $1,000/month (if available at all), and food, clean water, medicine, and Khaled’s needs — like diapers, milk, and clothes — cost around $1,000/month.
Our greatest dream is simple: for Khaled to grow up safe, with a roof over his head, food to eat, and medicine when he needs it.
How Donations Will Help
• Rent for a small home: €1,000/month
• Food, milk, medicine, clothes & essentials: €1,000/month
• Total basic needs: €2,000/month → €24,000 for one year of safety and stability
Our Goal
We set our initial goal to €10,000, which will help us survive the coming months. If we are blessed to reach it, we will extend the goal to secure a full year for Khaled.
Your Donation Makes a Difference
• €10 → covers part of Khaled’s daily needs (milk, food, or medicine).
• €20 → secures one full day of food and care for our baby.
• €50 → helps our family stay safe under a roof with essentials for the day.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for listening to our story. Please donate if you can — and if not, kindly share our story with your family and friends.
Your kindness gives Khaled a chance to live safely despite the war.
— Sakher, Somaia & baby Khaled
