<div>We are <strong>Sakher and Somaia</strong>. We married just <strong>two months before the war</strong> <strong>began </strong>on <strong>October 7, 2023</strong>. In the midst of all the destruction, our little boy, <strong>Khaled, was born on July 30th, 2024</strong> — our only light in this endless darkness, a reminder of life in the middle of death.

<div>Before the war, I (Sakher) worked as an <strong>Industrial Engineer</strong>, and Somaia was a <strong>medical laboratory doctor</strong>. But after <strong>October 7th, 2023</strong>, everything collapsed. We lost our jobs, our savings, and even the ability to buy food, clean water, and medicine.

<div>Since then, we have been <strong>displaced five times</strong>, escaping from one place to another with nothing but hope. In <strong>May 2024</strong>, we fled <strong>Rafah </strong>when the invasion reached our city. By 2025, satellite images confirmed our worst fear: <strong>Rafah — along with our home, our dreams, and every memory we held dear — had been completely destroyed</strong>.

<div>Now we are left without a home, struggling every single day to keep <strong>Khaled alive</strong>. Rent for even a small apartment starts at <strong>$1,000/month (if available at all)</strong>, and food, clean water, medicine, and Khaled’s needs — like diapers, milk, and clothes — cost around <strong>$1,000/month</strong>.

<div>Our greatest dream is simple: for <strong>Khaled to grow up safe</strong>, with a roof over his head, food to eat, and medicine when he needs it.
