I never thought I would be making a gofund me account, but when a 600-megawatt lithium battery farm is being placed near residents’ homes, next to a school, and by a conservation area in our community. When something of this size is less than .9 miles from our kids school, you don’t stay quiet.
We have asked questions. We have attended meetings. We have filed complaints. And now we need legal protection and professional review.
That’s why we launched a GoFundMe — to hire qualified attorneys and fire safety experts to make sure this is done safely and lawfully.
We are not anti-development. We are pro-child safety.
If you believe schools should not be surrounded by high-risk industrial projects, please support us.
We will be using the funds for attorney fees and any left over money will be donated to the Prairieview Education Center, which is operated by the McHenry County Conservation District.
Typical Attorney Fee Structures
Hourly Rates: $300–$1,000+ per hour (specialized land use/energy attorneys).
Retainer Fees: A substantial upfront retainer is usually required, often ranging from several thousand to tens of thousands of dollars to initiate the case.
Total Project Costs: Depending on the length of the opposition (hearings, appeals), costs can easily exceed $15,000–$20,000+ for complex, multi-meeting, or appellate cases
Donate if you can. Share if you can’t.
Our kids deserve adults who show up.
