Jambo Sana!
My name is Chelena, and I am asking for your support during an exciting and transformative time in my life. I grew up in the village of Leparua, Kenya, a small and self-sufficient community in Laikipia where I have started a project to give back: The Woman’s House Workshop.
The Woman’s House Workshop provides women in my village with an opportunity to learn valuable skills like sewing, tailoring, and creating. So far, the women I have taught have thrived in this space, and we have even received a commission to make uniforms for the local school.
Thanks to the support of friends and family, I have raised enough funds to build a basic workshop structure. Now, we are hoping to take the next step: installing solar panels to bring electricity into the workshop. This will allow us to have lighting, and make it possible to use tools like an electric iron and kettle, rather than relying on a hot coal iron.
This workshop is vital for empowering my community by teaching vital skills that can help women support themselves financially.
That is why I am asking for your help. Every little donation counts. The cost of installing the solar panels and necessary internal equipment is estimated at £3,000 (400,000ksh), and I’m unable to cover this on my own. If we exceed our goal, any extra funds will go toward a secure lockup within the workshop, purchasing protective overalls for the women, sewing equiptment, stocking the workshop with fabric, fabric storage, shelves, and a dedicated space for our new mother's babies to sleep safely.
If you are able to contribute, I would be beyond grateful. If not, sharing this campaign or sending positive thoughts will also make a world of difference.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for your generous support. It truly means more to us than words can express.
Asante Sana!
