Help Phyllis Nieckar through her Brain surgery.

Hi Everyone!

As some of you may know, the love of my life and best friend was recently in a terrible car accident.  Phyllis was t-boned at an intersection and hit on the driver's side of the vehicle.  On May 23, she was airlifted to Edmonton's University of Alberta hospital.  She was rushed into emergency brain surgery to reduce the swelling in her head and stop the brain bleed that she was enduring.

Although the surgery was successful and Phyllis has continued to make progress, she has a very long way to go and is not in the clear yet.  The doctors have said that the recovery will not be days but months with Physical and Occupational Therapists.  She is currently experiencing some paralysis on the left side of her face and left arm and leg.  She will require months of rehabilitation at the Edmonton Glenrose Hospital, away from our home in Fort McMurray.

Phyllis has lived in Fort McMurray for the last 19 years and has worked as an NCSO Officer for the last 15 years in the major Oil Sands Sites.  After all those years of experience, Phyllis decided to branch out on her own and create her own safety company called Nieckar Safety Incorporated this past April 2022.  Unfortunately, the timing of this was not ideal.  Because Phyllis is now self-employed and chasing her dream of running her own Safety business, she is without health insurance and medical coverage.

If you don't know Phyllis, some of the things she loves that are greatly affected by her current left-sided paralysis are that she enjoys drawing in her free time.  The unfortunate aspect of this is that Phyllis is also left-handed.  Phyllis has always been an active person.  In the winter loves backcountry snowboarding in the mountains.  Phyllis and I would drive out to Valemount B.C. and head to Allen Creek or Clemina Creek snowmobiling areas.  We would unload the ski-do and double up the mountain.  I would drop Phyllis off at the top of the mountain and watch her snowboard back down, just enjoying life.  Her other love includes keeping fit and exercising in the gym.  She is also a certified physical trainer.  Phyllis helps out her fellow clients in her spare time with personal training.

Any donations made would be greatly appreciated.  If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this post so that many people can read our story.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and show support in any way.

Love the Nieckars
