Penny, my sister, has faced an incredibly tough year. After a neck surgery in December 2024 led to severe complications, she was struck by a shopping cart, which made her recovery even harder. Since then, Penny has struggled with ongoing health issues, including a concussion and spine problems, and she hasn’t been able to return to work. She’s now awaiting another abdominal surgery, with results from her biopsies expected soon.
Because of these health setbacks, Penny lost her job in April 2025 and has used up all her disability benefits and retirement savings just to get by. She’s working through the process of applying for social security disability, but it’s uncertain how long that will take. Penny now needs to find a new, affordable place to live by February 28th, and she’s trying to sell her antiques to help cover costs. She also hopes to move closer to her daughter in Bealeton, as caring for herself has become more difficult.
Right now, Penny needs help with housing, food, and medical expenses while she recovers and transitions to a new home. Any support—whether it’s a donation, sharing her story, or even a recommendation for selling her antiques—would mean the world to us. Thank you for considering helping Penny during this challenging time. The other name on here is Jessica Kirk, Penny's daughter. She is helping manage this fundraiser.
