My name is Paul Beverley. My sister Amanda (Pictured above) has struggled with health issues throughout her life (cholesteatoma/hearing loss/surgeries), but over the past four years she's been battling a new foe; excruciating undiagnosed chronic pain that has eliminated her hunger drive entirely and makes it very difficult for her to eat and perform normal daily tasks. Even when she manages to eat, she struggles to keep food down, and because she struggles to ingest calories she also battles chronic fatigue.
It took three long years before we were able to get her on medication to halt her weight loss, and during that time I watched her drop from 156lbs to 103lbs.
We've managed to stabilize her weight, but she still struggles to perform a lot of the physical day to day tasks she needs to do on top of the remote job that pays her rent. She could remain self sufficient for many more years if she had a little extra help, but as it is she is on her own in Portland.
I've been trying to move out to be with her so I can help her with the things she can't do, and hasn't been able to manage for months. Along with the concern that her issue remains undiagnosed, while medication has helped manage the symptoms, there's concerns that it may return, and she would not have the support she needs to handle those circumstances. However the tiny gap between my paycheck and my expenses makes it nearly impossible to save the lump sum I would need to move to Portland.
Please help me put together the funds to move in with my sister, so she can continue to keep her stay-at-home job and stay off disability, while I handle the necessities of keeping a home safe and welcoming to live in. Anything we receive above our goals will go to her medical bills/debt.
