Our dear friend and neighbor, Paul Bjerg, a long-time member of the Tappen community, recently suffered an unimaginable tragedy. His home was completely destroyed in a fire September 19th, 2025 leaving nothing behind but rubble. Paul is in his 80s, and unfortunately, he did not have insurance coverage.

This heartbreaking event has left Paul and his family facing overwhelming challenges. His son, Mike, was caught in the fire and very nearly lost his life. We are so grateful he made it out safely, but the family now faces the enormous task of starting over from nothing.

Paul has always been a kind and valued part of our community, and now he needs our support more than ever. The immediate need is to clean up the remains of his home so that rebuilding can eventually begin. This will require resources, manpower, and financial help that go far beyond what Paul can manage on his own.

We are asking for donations from our community, friends, and anyone who feels moved to help. Every dollar raised will go directly to supporting Paul with cleanup and the first steps toward rebuilding his home.

No amount is too small—together, we can make a big difference. Let’s rally around Paul and Mike during this devastating time and show them that they are not alone.
