Many of you may know Paul Gregory from his years at the Bremerton and Poulsbo Farmers Markets. Paul owns Gregory Farm in Silverdale, where he grows vegetables, particularly kale and onions. But Paul is probably best known for the amazing fruit he brings into Kitsap each week from Yakima.
Through much of the year, Paul travels weekly to Eastern WA to pick up the freshest fruit available. He provides this fruit directly to farmers market customers, restaurants, and to us at Kitsap Fresh. Paul has famously provided some of the best-tasting peaches and cherries, and for many years, he had a Blueberry Club that customers clamored over! Right now, he's also been traveling regularly to Gray's Harbor to pick up fresh cranberries -- something we all really appreciate as we move into the holiday season.
Unfortunately, a couple of months ago, Paul's truck had engine failure, and he has been unable to replace it. For those of us who know Paul closely, we also know that he has been trying to recover from medical issues and related costs over the last several years. His only options lately have been to try and borrow vehicles or occasionally rent a truck or van to make the trip. He's lost quite a bit of revenue these past couple of months - and during a high harvest time of year (which is crucial to helping him financially through the winter months).
We are asking our amazing community to help put together money so that Paul can buy a good, reliable truck. For those of you who know Paul personally -- no, we didn't ask him first if we could do this! We did tell him that we want to help, and we think many in our community will want to as well.
Paul has been a staple in our farming and local food community, and he's given many hours of his time as a volunteer helping the Bremerton Farmers Market - particularly when it was first starting. Please consider making a donation -- no matter how small -- to help get him back doing what he loves.
