Help Patrick’s Family Rebuild After House Fire
Donation protected
My name is Patrick, and I’m reaching out for support after a devastating house fire that has turned our lives upside down. My wife Kerri, my son Joseph, my sister Heather, and I are doing our best to recover after losing nearly everything. The fire started unexpectedly in Joseph’s bedroom when the battery in his laptop exploded, quickly spreading and leaving us with only the clothes we were wearing. We are grateful that our two dogs, Lady and Peanut Butter, survived, but we are heartbroken over the loss of our dog Heart and our two cats, Cowboy and Gravy. Two of our cats, Paper and Biscuit, are still missing, and we’re holding onto hope that they’ll be found safe.
Right now, our most urgent needs are finding temporary, pet-friendly housing and replacing essential items like clothing and basic necessities. All of our furniture and personal belongings were destroyed by fire, smoke, or water damage. We’re also hoping to recover a few items from the parts of the house that weren’t completely destroyed before the home is torn down. Our goal is to eventually place a modular home on the property so we can rebuild our lives together as a family.
Any support will help us get back on our feet and provide some stability as we navigate this difficult time. Thank you for reading our story and for any help you can offer.
Funds will be used to replace clothes, furniture, food, and other essentials as well as have the house demolished as it doesn't look like it can be repaired without totally replacing it. We have increased the amount requested to demolish the house, do the preparation for the prefabricated home, and to either purchase a prefabricated home or put a good down payment down.
Estimated costs for demolition, the preparation, and modular home is approximately $300k. The Demolition alone is approximately $18,700, preparation work is being estimated at $60,000. The price of the home varies so we will work with what we can afford. So any donations will help us get back on our feet faster.
I'm a disabled combat veteran with 10% service connected disability and totally and physically disabled per the Social Security Administration. So I'm on a fixed income and have limited means to help. My sister works for the Jacksonville Humane Society and is the only other main source of income. My son is in the process of applying for Social Security as he has a few conditions that limit his ability to maintain stable work and income.
