A Small Gesture, a Big Difference

Hello dear family, friends & acquaintances,

In April, 2025, as a family we will depart for a three-week trip to Indonesia. Our journey begins in Yogyakarta, after which we'll travel to Lombok and Gili Air. For me, this is a special trip as I happily return to my country of origin - a place close to my heart where it always feels like coming home.

Niels has also taken Indonesia into his heart and especially always enjoys the delicious Indonesian cuisine! For our children, this is the second time they're going to Indonesia, a wonderful opportunity to experience more of their cultural background.

A Special Project During Our Trip

During our stay in Lombok, we would like to make a difference for local children who don't have the same opportunities as we do. Through a good family friend, we've connected with the Patmos children's home in Mataram, where 47 children between the ages of 5 and 19 live under the guidance of 10 caregivers.

What We Want to Do

We want to go shopping for supplies for the children's home together with our children. This will be a fun social activity while providing practical help. We also want to show our own two kids how fortunate we are in the Netherlands and how we can help others, even though it may seem like a small gesture.

What the Children's Home Needs

The children's home needs:

- Underwear and menstrual products for the girls

- Snacks for the children

- Kitchen spices and supplies (rice, onions, pepper, soy sauce, garlic, etc.)

- Cleaning supplies (brooms, liquid soap, etc.)

Our Goal

We hope to raise at least €500 to purchase all these necessities. The full amount will go directly toward the shopping we'll do together with our kids.

Within 48 hours, I'm thrilled to share that we've reached €1000! Way above the initial plan of €500,- But why stop there? I'd love to double our impact and raise now for €2000 total, allowing us to provide even more support to these deserving children.

Will You Help?

Unfortunately, Indonesia has many orphanages and shelters for children who could use extra support. With this small gesture, we hope to make life a little more pleasant for these 47 children at Patmos.
