Help Pat walk again: Donate to a mother who deserves it!

Hi! I’m Nazz and that’s my Mom, Pat. I’m reaching out to you to share my mother’s journey, she never had a choice to take. I chose to finally ask for help. She needs more support than what I can give. My mother has faced a life changing trauma I can’t even begin to understand. She has challenges to overcome on a day to day basis. It started two summers ago. She had a vascular disease which kept oxygen from flowing to her leg, causing bubbling wounds that exposed her tendons. Skin grafts wouldn’t take, and ultimately she had two leg amputations, which have profoundly impacted her life. Despite these hardships, she has always been the backbone of our family—working tirelessly to provide for us and instilling in us the values of strength, resilience, and empathy for everyone.

Throughout her life, my mother has been a nurturing figure, always putting our needs first. She helped me get sober and changed my life for the better. She took such joy in raising her two grandsons when my sister was struggling, trying to work and be a single mother. She continues to house and take care of my other sister who had a Traumatic brain injury, much left her cognitive functions altered. Her dedication to family is a testament to her character, but now, she is in desperate need of help. It sucks, because I don’t have the money to just give her without blinking.

The financial burden of medical expenses has made it nearly impossible for her to afford a prosthetic leg, Medicare will only pay a portion, which is a major help - however, the remaining balance they have no payment plan for. So we need the amount in full to get her prosthetic and back on her feet.

I am deeply compelled to raise these funds not only for her physical health but for her mental well-being as well. The inability to move freely has taken a toll on her spirit, and I believe that with the right support we can get her out of this depressed state.

She lives in the living on a hospital bed, because our steps are too steep for her to use her hands and butt to get up without horrible pain. I sleep next to her on the couch when she wakes up at 2am to get her to her chair where she can relieve herself. Constant trips of emptying a bucket full of pee and poop doesn’t make the living room smell any better. The main thing she wants is to be able to do it herself. She wants her independence back so she can walk upstairs to her room and close the door. At least giving her privacy for a change.

She’s far too modest(I say stubborn) to write this, so the least I can do is try. Everyone has problems and needs money, so why should I feel ashamed? The worst is we keep saving what we can, but there’s always some curveball that needs to be dealt with financially. I know she’s stable enough - but I don’t want her to accept this as her Life from now on. It’s going to be 2025. Give it a few more years and she’ll be the bionic woman with all the advances science and engineering is making!

Your contributions would mean the world to my entire family. She deserves a chance to walk again.

Please consider donating to this cause. Anything and everything will help. I’ve never asked strangers for anything before, so I’m not expecting the world. But knowing I’m trying to get this done for her is apart of my service to her. I know the physical therapy to come is going to be the hardest part - but I’ll be there for her. We can help her together. We can get her better. I don’t know how to end these things - so I’ll just say Thank You for listening.
