Parrotland is in need of finance for vet bills and other expenses to keep the birds and the place up to date.

Parrotland was opened in June 2018, by Thorkild Lorenzen.

It was the old school in Ballum near Bredebro in Denmark, that was rebuilt so that there was room for the 40 birds he started with at the time.

This was the first place in Denmark where you could get so close to parrots.

Close by in the form of being able to have them sitting on you and feeding them nuts and feed mixture, which you are given at the entrance.

Thorkild got the inspiration from Poland, where he had been visiting to experience the concept of a "parrotland".

Parrot Land was created for the target group: "People of all ages".

And we really have people of all ages visiting. Among other things, we have had visits from children's groups, school classes and various clubs for adults and older people.

At the end of 2022, Parrotland was acquired by Tom Roger Lehn. He is Norwegian and lives in Norway.

The staff stayed the same and are in charge of the daily management. They do everything possible to care for the parrots, train them, and attract visitors.

One of the many tasks for the new team was to find a new place where the small business could move to, due to the fact that the old school building in Ballum was going to be demolished in the summer of 2024.

The new location became Åbøl, right next to highway 25. Here we found a suitable building, with high ceilings. The space was a little smaller than we were used to and the fixed expenses much higher, but with all the support from you visitors and donaters, we believe in a prosperous future in Åbøl.
