The communities of Parottee, Hilltop, Spice Grove, and surrounding areas have been left in total devastation after Category 5 Hurricane Andrew Melissa tore through our homes and lives. Overnight, the familiar streets we walked, the homes we cherished, and the memories we built were reduced to rubble. Families now face a reality most of us cannot imagine: children without beds to sleep on, parents without roofs over their heads, and elderly residents struggling just to survive.
Over 90% of homes in these communities have been destroyed, and essential services like water, electricity, and food access have been disrupted. People are walking through debris, searching for anything that can protect them or their families. In the midst of this tragedy, the resilience and hope of our communities remain, but we cannot recover alone. These families need more than hope they need action, support, and solidarity.
We are reaching out to Jamaicans locally, overseas, and in the region because this is a crisis that requires all of us. Every family we help is a life restored, a child comforted, and a community given a chance to rebuild stronger. Your support will make an immediate and tangible difference.
Where Every Dollar Will Go
All donations will be used directly to support families and rebuild communities. Specifically, funds will provide:
Emergency shelter and materials – tarpaulins, plywood, roofing sheets, nails, and tools to give families immediate protection from the elements.
Food and water supplies – essential groceries, clean drinking water, and basic cooking items to sustain families day by day.
Survival and hygiene equipment – flashlights, batteries, generators, personal hygiene kits, and cooking utensils.
Rebuilding assistance – helping families recover lost tools, purchase materials, and begin rebuilding their homes.
Community coordination – ensuring relief reaches the most vulnerable: children, single parents, and elderly residents first.
Every donation is carefully managed to make sure families get the help they desperately need, quickly and efficiently.
Why Your Support Matters
It is difficult to describe the sense of loss these communities are facing. Parents are doing their best to comfort terrified children, neighbors are helping one another sift through the rubble, and yet, the scale of destruction is overwhelming. Without urgent help, many families risk being left without shelter, without food, and without hope.
But there is a way forward. By contributing today, you are turning despair into hope. You are giving a mother a safe place to sleep, a father the tools to rebuild, and a child the sense of security they have lost. Your donation is more than financial support it is a lifeline, a message that these communities are not forgotten, and a pledge that together, we can help them rise again.
Each one help one. Together, we can rebuild homes, restore families, and reignite hope. We understand that times are difficult for everyone, but even the smallest contribution can make a monumental difference. Families need us now more than ever. Let’s show them that no one has to face this alone.
