On September 29th, Ron Dewdney returned home (the schoolhouse on Aiken Road) to find an unknown couple waiting inside his house. They approached Ron and told him they were having car troubles and needed help. Ron kindly offered to give them a ride into town and obliged when one of them asked to use his phone to make a call. While one of them distracted Ron, the other got into his truck and started the engine. The couple then sped away aggressively with Ron's truck and cellphone, hitting him in the process and leaving him downed on the side of the road. Fortunately, Ron escaped without major injury.
It was later discovered that the Vermont State Police were actively in pursuit of this couple for a violent crime further north. They were eventually caught by police in Springfield, MA. Ron's truck, his only means of transportation, was totaled in a collision during the chase. Unfortunately, his insurance policy does not cover theft.
