Help Our Neighbourhood - 100k Ultra run for Defib!
Donation protected
It's finally here. Help me and our local neighbourhood crowdfund for a lifesaving piece of kit; a public access Defibrillator.
A mile for each home - A 100k (62mi) Ultramarathon, One Day, One Way run from Coventry to Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire.
Using the a canal towpath as my guide, I will be running the route on Sunday August 15th, which I've estimated will take approximatley 12 to 15 hours.
The route will start off in Eastern Coventry canal track, following the towpath through Daventry, I will be headed south of Northampton on the Grand Union Canal along the M1. Through Cosgrove, the run finishes headed south of Milton Keynes down to my home town and front door in Leighton Buzzard.
Taking part in Emergency First Aid and Lifeguarding courses over the past two years has made me realise to the importance of Defibrillators, and how essential and impactful they are in actually saving lives. Redwood Glade, our local neighbourhood, hosts 62 homes alone, among others dotted around the surrounding roads and country lanes. Not having one installed in our area, my goal is to fundraise for a public, outdoor defibrillator, which anyone, including walkers by and the surrounding area, can use.
Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) is our chosen supported charity. The proceeds after hitting the goal for the Defibrillator will contribute to their total donation. The team at CRY offer subsidised ECG and Echocardiogram screening to all young people between the ages of 14 & 35, and in doing so "Aim to prevent young sudden cardiac deaths through awareness, screening and research, and supporting affected families." Check out more of what they do here.
The model of the Defibrillator is a G5 Fully Automatic with AED Armor Cabinet, approximatley £1800 (VAT) including child-safe pads, with the remaining £200 contributing towards the installation and electrical work.
Thank you all for reading and I hugely appreciate all the support!
