Our family is facing a heartbreaking and overwhelming challenge, and we are humbly reaching out for support for our 77-year-old mother, SulaMae Coleman, who is living with progressive dementia.
For decades, our mother devoted herself to her husband with love and loyalty. She endured years of emotional and verbal abuse, holding on to the belief that he was the man she had promised to share her life with. Only after his arrest did she discover the devastating truth—that the man she trusted and cared for had been living a predatory double life for years, even before their marriage. Coming to terms with this betrayal has broken her heart and shattered her sense of security.
Her husband has now been convicted and sentenced to 30 years in prison. While this brings some measure of justice, it does not undo the damage he inflicted on our mother, nor does it ease the daily struggles she faces as a result of his actions.
On top of this emotional devastation, her husband stripped her of all financial support once he was arrested. He revoked the Power of Attorney he had previously given her, leaving her unable to sell their home or access the resources she desperately needs. The only remedy now is for her to pursue a divorce, including the sale of their home through the court decree. This process will be long and costly, requiring not only a divorce attorney but also a court-appointed guardian ad litem due to our mother’s dementia. These costs fall entirely on us, her children.
At the same time, her health is rapidly declining. Her dementia is worsening, and she requires consistent, compassionate care—care that grows more costly every day. We are doing all we can to surround her with love and stability, but the financial burden is overwhelming.
We are asking for help to raise $10,000 to cover:
Legal fees for the divorce and court-appointed guardian ad litem
Essential health care costs tied to her dementia care
Immediate needs while we navigate this transition
Our mother is a kind, loving woman who has always put others before herself. She should not have to endure this kind of financial and emotional cruelty at this stage of her life. With your support, we can ensure she is cared for properly, protected legally, and surrounded by the dignity and compassion she deserves.
Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to stability for our mom. Even if you are unable to give, please consider sharing this page with others.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us during this difficult time.
